It is a special day on which Minkaen becomes most exciting. And it is free admission day.

We will hold a number of events, such as kabuki performance (fee required for watching) on the Stage from Funakoshi (an important tangible folk culture property of Japan), play in old times for children including experience wearing folk clothes, traditional skill demonstrations by craftsman, sales and exhibitions of “Mingi-kai” and many more.

※ Kominka-Café (coffee shop in the folk house) will open on the day.
※ A large number of visitors are expected on the day. Please refrain from sketching using chairs, easels, and photographing using tripod.

Kabuki  “Kanadehon Chūshingura  Act 7: A Scene of Ichiriki Chaya” and others will be performed. ※the content may change if it rains

  • Time: 13:30 ~ 14:30 (reception starts at 13:00)
  • Place: The Kabuki stage from Funakoshi
  • Performer: Akikawa-Kabuki-Akiruno-Za
  • Admission fee: The ticket will be sold at the front gate from 11:00 on the day of the event, first-come-first-served.
    (up to 2 tickets per person; seating capacity: 300 seats)

Play in old times for children
Including experience wearing traditional folk clothes, trying ring toss, playing with stilts, bamboo sandals, and more.

  • Time: 11:00~ 12:00 / 13:00 ~ 15:00
  • Place: Straw toys (experience of wearing folk clothes, trying ring toss, etc.) in the Sakuda house; Bamboo toys (whoop rolling, stilts, etc.) in the Kitamura house. ※The places may change.
